Members' Evening

Bicker & District Garden Club held their first Members' Evening on Thursday 19th July. We had a good turnout of 31 members and 3 visitors. The evening consisted of four short talks, given by members, with a break half-way through for food and wine plus the drawing of the raffle. The four talks were entertaining and all very different. Fabienne Best talked about dowsing. Alan Bycraft told us how to make a chair out of a log. Winnie Hierons spoke about her time working as a nurse in the 1950s. Finally John Stainton gave us an account of his work with the Army in the Falklands Conflict. We had a really lively and enjoyable evening.
The Flower of the Month Competition was won by Winnie with an attractive but unidentified plant (see the above photo). It may be a shrimp plant.
