Springfields Gardens

We were pleased to welcome Andy Boyton, Head Gardener of Springfields Gardens, as speaker at our November meeting on Thursday 19th. Andy told us some of the history of the gardens, including how a lot of the land had been compulsorily purchased for the building of the by-pass road. The gardens are run as a charity and are funded by the car-parking charge and by a levy from the shops and other businesses there. We were told about the considerable number of bulbs, particularly daffodils and tulips, that are planted each year to give such stunning displays.
The Flower of the Month Competition was won by Tony with a red penstemon.

AGM 2015

Bicker & District Garden Club held their 2015 Annual General Meeting on the evening of Thursday 15th October. It was a well attended meeting and all four officers were re-elected unopposed. After the oficial business there was a presentation by Sally Grant about the National Gardens Scheme.
